Nerd Alert

Our little family has started "geocaching".
It may sound kinda dorky but we have been having so much fun!Geocashing is an outdoor treasure hunting game. There are "caches" all over Boise.. all over the world actually... you load their quadrants into your GPS and off you go for a big game of hide and seek. Here is a shot of Charlotte and I with our first find. Inside there are cheap little trinkets like kids toys or squirt guns, tennis balls and dog treats and sometimes even handmade jewelery! The fun is really in finding it but if you want you can take a trinket and leave something different for the next seeker.
It is a great way to find cool trails in the Boise foothills.

And hopefully will prove to be helpful in losing some post-preggy pounds : )

It is something we can do as a family.

And with friends.

It's great exercise for our pups too!

And it's free : )

I can only imagine how much fun it will be when Charlotte is old enough to retrieve the hidden bootie (and I assume she'll prefer pirate-talk.. yarrrg) . I stole most of these pics from our friends Brian and Rachel who introduced us to the world of geocaching. Thanks guys!

Yes, they had matching shirts : ) Hers: a onesie with a tricycle that says "Hardcore Baby"
His: (not a onesie) with a motorcycle that says "Hardcore Daddy"
I found them on diaperdude.com

Their sweet smiles make me so happy!

Such a pretty profile!!

Nap time on Mama after some serious swinging.

We had a Father's Day Picnic in the park on Sunday and luckily my very beautiful and talented cuz Ximena was there... luckier still... I managed to get my camera into her hands!! The woman has skills! Thanks again for the beautiful pictures!

Happy Father's Day!

From two very lucky girls to two very special Daddies.
We love you!!

One of my favorite quotes is "The best thing a father can do for his children is love their mother." Can't remember who said it or even where I heard it but I like it! Jakey... you are a kick ass Daddy! And to my Dad... thanks for showing me what to look for in a man. You two are the best!!!

iOwA... a plaaace to stay...

Get your booty on the floor tonight... make my day. Steph just finished her first year of grad school (woot-woot!) and was home for a couple of weeks for a mini summer break. We talk everyday regardless but it was so fantastic to get to hang with her in person!!She and Charlotte spent some quality Auntie-time together. I took this shot at Cafe O'le (an old fav) while Steph was entertaining the babe so I could finish eating.
*An African safari in a Mexican restaurant* : )

My one off the wall pregnancy craving was lemon... I ate them constantly!

My family is notorious for giving babies tastes of lemon to see their sour-puss faces and I remember joking when I was pregnant that Charlotte would come out loving them... no joke... she does love them! No sour-puss or anything : *

It was sooo great to see you Stephy! Missin' you already... even though we just hung-up : )

Rocky Raccoon

So yesterday was just another Wednesday until I went on my noon walk across the street from the shop. We ran into this little guy, all by himself curled into a little ball with Momma no where to be found. I called Fish and Game and after speaking with them for awhile realized that neither they, or the Humane Society would do anything for this little guy because he was considered a varmint. Well I hurried to the shop and found a number for a rescue shelter. They said to get a box and capture the little guy, and they would come buy and take care of him. The woman, Madie, said that the mother must have been trapped or worse, because raccoon Mommy's don't leave their babies for the first year. She had me make sure that there weren't any other babies around and helped coach me through getting the little guy all scooped up. I went back with fervor, and not that well equipped. The first round definitely went to Harry, as we came to call him. I thought that he was going to be all docile and cutesy, not at all. . . This little guy was full of energy. I tried to coax him the first time and even got hold of him, but about the time he started growling and turning his head back towards my hands, I let him go. He scurried into nearby bushes and I went back to the shop. I let him cool off for about an hour, figured he would go back to sleep. Time for round two, this time much more prepared; Welding gloves so he couldn't bite, a towel, and a good sized cardboard box. Matt from the shop helped me the second go around. We went back to the same spot and I found him curled into a little ball again, looking innocent and cutesy again. I told Matt not to let his size and cuteness fool, he's a feisty one. After a well thought out plan we went in for it, and success, Harry was in the box, mellow and ready to be taken to the shelter.

Needless to say, I'm a Dad now, and to think that this poor little guy was out in the middle of nowhere, without his Momma, made me sick to my stomach. I guess I've always known deep down inside that I'm more a lover than fighter, and this was just another reminder.

Take Care Harry,

Maybe you had to be there...

...but I think this is hilarious (obviously). I was trying to take a video of Charlotte with my phone to send to my friend in Montana who hasn't met her yet. (Hopefully soon though!) Charlotte somehow managed to get a hold of the phone and my shirt just as I started recording... funnygirl!

I have played the video a couple of times and everytime Charlotte hears it she the biggest smile on her sweet little face : ) She brings so much joy to me everyday!

the Nest

Every month on the 30th-ish : ) I set this little nest up in the nursey and take a bunch of pictures of Charlotte in it. It is such a fun size reference and I always like to imagine how the pictures will change throughout the year. Itty bitty baby all curled up, these 5 month pics where she is playing with the eggs... I figure by a year she'll be dragging the nest behid her : ) My plan is to print out a favorite from each month and eventually frame them within the very nest she poses in. My sweet baby birdie is growing so fast!
It is a wreath that I found at Michaels with a cozy brown blankie underneth...

This month I put her Boppy pillow under the blankie to help prop her up.

She makes it soo hard to pick just one favorite : )

Daddy Dress Up

Here are a couple of examples of what happens when Dadu dresses Charlotte... seriously? He has great style when comes to dressing himself... why does this happen every time he dresses the babe? A witty black onesie paired with blue heart print pants and brown and red Cowgirl boots?
(she knew well enough to kick those right off)

Or how about an outgrown blue bug print hoodie with black and white print pants?
All of these pieces very cute separately but a little overwhelming together.
Come on Dadu...
